I had wondered if the mushers had to look after their dogs during the lay-over. All very interesting as I'm sitting here in 'the wide brown land'(Australia)
in the middle of a heat wave following a dog race on the other side of the world and completely taken in by it all. Love the Quest so far the Iditarod doesn't seem to have the ..guts and grit of the YQ
The Outback Artisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12317330557247217141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023068524242748614.post-44340790616869160882014-02-05T01:04:34.024-09:002014-02-05T01:04:34.024-09:00Thanks for the side by side comparison! Just what...Thanks for the side by side comparison! Just what I needed to know as a YQ Newbie! I have been following the Iditard since 2001 and this race definitely has a different feel to it! As a spectator, there is a bit of relief involved knowing after half the race is over there is this 36 hour pampering "reset" with a dog handler "pit" crew! That's a nice touch to the race and adds it's own flavor to the race like no other. Thanks again Macgellan! Is that true or does it just seem that way?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023068524242748614.post-85848650859932720312014-02-04T19:02:41.690-09:002014-02-04T19:02:41.690-09:00Wow that is. a very big difference.
