Mushing Trails in Summer

Have you ever wondered what some of our mushing trails look like in the summer? Let Tig show you the Chena River during the summer.

Woof, woof!!!

Tig looks as if the wide river is a bit too much, even for a Lab! ("I hope my SPK leader doesn't throw a ball in the water just now...").

Thanks so much for this/these pics here on August 22nd - at the time I'm viewing them it appears "Current SPK weather" (at the bottom, left, of the page) says...39 degrees F.

Can sled dog season, training semester, be far away???

Tig in her glory - at the front of the boat .. ah the life of a bird dog.

The contrast between summer and winter got a laugh out of me. After all the rain, I for one, am not in that much of a hurry for winter .. but to be fair, this San Diegan probably never in a hurry for winter.

I just enjoy it when it gets here and SPK has a WHOLE lot to do with that.

Tig does not look super excited to jump into the Chena River(i bet he dipped a toe in & it was too cold).
The contrast between now and winter is what makes Alaska so special. It will soon be time for training to begin. Yeah!

What a difference a season makes!! I have that feeling too when I'm canoeing a lake that I ice fish in the winter....there is something about walking on top of the water in the winter...then whoosh...spring comes and that frozen path is gone till next season!
