Not only is she a very experienced musher, she runs a mushing school and "tourist" kennel called "Paws for Adventure" outside of Fairbanks. Plus, she has flown down to Anchorage for several years to help handle the dogs before Iditarod. On top of all that, she has a few SPK "retirees" at her kennel, including Heeler and Manny. So, yes, she is plenty experienced enough to ride the second sled, but that really doesn't do justice to her abilities or importance to SPK.Macgellanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05414475206084334795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023068524242748614.post-29646684229449393332010-03-09T20:50:34.470-09:002010-03-09T20:50:34.470-09:00Hi Mac,

Was it Allen's other daughter? I think I remember reading that she mushed as a youngster, so she'd have the skills...Lisanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023068524242748614.post-57836495277895156782010-03-06T18:29:37.605-09:002010-03-06T18:29:37.605-09:00The second sled is for "control"... 12 h...The second sled is for "control"... 12 hyped up dogs are too strong for one sled's brakes to control on the limited snow they put down on 4th Ave... So, a second "drag sled" is used to add weight and braking control.Macgellanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05414475206084334795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023068524242748614.post-6382244043066779542010-03-06T16:23:14.578-09:002010-03-06T16:23:14.578-09:00I know that the Iditarider position is because the...I know that the Iditarider position is because they won an auction but what is the 2nd sled and rider for?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023068524242748614.post-74362615750885132462010-03-06T14:13:30.352-09:002010-03-06T14:13:30.352-09:00Beautiful day to start the Iditarod!
